The Personality of An Injury … #hcsm #hcsmeu #shareddecisionmaking from Howard Luks on Vimeo.
When we try to define the personality of an injury, we are taking into account the impact of the injury on YOU. Treatment alternatives need to be individualized… medical decision making (in many instances) should not be “cook-booked”.
The same injury will not “behave” the same way in many patients. Many will experience profound issues with regards to their quality of life, while others will barely notice an impact. The injury—its sequelae— its presentation— and the impact it is having on your quality of life are important considerations when determining how physicians counsel you on whether or not to proceed with various treatment alternatives…. or, in my opinion, that is how physicians should be looking at it!
Std disclaimer… please consult with your physician and help them understand how your medical problems are impacting your quality of life.
