In episode 4 we explore a biological approach to various common orthopedic issues such as rotator cuff tears. For too long, Orthopedists and the medical device industry has singularly focused on the mechanical aspects of a surgical approach eg. a stronger suture, a stronger screw. Many procedural failures have a biological cause. Why didn’t the tendon heal? Why didn’t the bone heal? Until we better understand these biological issues better and innovate in the orthopedic surgery space to alter the biological environment we may not see our success rates change dramatically going forward.
