Reinjury After Rotator Cuff Surgery

Howard J. Luks, MD Updated September 22, 2021

Torn Rotator Cuff 2

The reinjury or recurrence rate after rotator cuff surgery is high.  The recovery from rotator cuff surgery is far longer than most of us find acceptable.  The issue is the “biology of tendon healing”.  It takes the repaired rotator cuff tendon far longer to heal then most realize.  If your activity increases too rapidly you place yourself at risk for developing a new rotator cuff tear.
